History & origins

From community idea to destination reputation

The Cove began with longtime resident Suzie Squiers' idea to build a true lakeside gathering place in Mineral. Over time it has become one of Lake Anna's clearest examples of a place that works for both locals and travelers.

The concept stayed simple: exceptional hospitality, easy lake access, and enough variety to keep groups, families, and boaters all happy together.

Venue design

Two moods, one destination

The upper level stays calm and flexible with controlled seating, expansive windows, and a deck designed for sunset views. The lower level, Pirates Cove, turns up the social energy with open-air vibe, stage presence, and dock-side seating.

In colder months a heated pavilion keeps the atmosphere active, so the destination remains a practical evening spot whether the season is warm or not.

Food & drinks

Menu moments that keep people talking

The kitchen keeps a broad, dependable range that still feels local and custom: steamer platters of snow crab legs, Old Bay shrimp, and shellfish bowls, along with pub classics and signature-style entrees.

At the bar, the flagship Mermaid Juice cocktail sits beside rotating cold pours and craft drafts. It is a strong match for both early dinner and late-evening dockside plans.

Practical lake advantage

Built for crews and casual guests alike

Direct slip access and marina support means boaters can pause, refuel, rehydrate, and return to the water with less hassle. The on-site convenience store rounds out the practical value of the stop.

The setup also works for non-boaters, especially in the late afternoon when the pace is social and the lake-side vibe is strongest.

Evening energy

Music, mood, and sunset-first transitions

The Cove works brilliantly as a flow experience. Many guests arrive for dinner, then move to the lower deck for drinks and music as evening deepens. Others start with cocktails and stay for the sunset.

It is one of the most reliable places on Lake Anna for turning a short stop into a full memorable outing.

Plan your stop like a local

Summer Saturdays can move quickly, so guests often aim for early-evening arrival and are rewarded with better table and dock timing. The environment still works well late in the day for post-lake gatherings.

The Cove stays useful in every season because indoor and covered options keep the atmosphere active without losing the lakeside identity that defines it.

Whether you are cruising by boat or stopping on your way home, The Cove is one of the most complete and practical places for food, refreshment, music, and resupply at once.
